Situation
With the upcoming release of Windows Live for Windows Mobile 7 (WM7), Microsoft needed an offshore team that could take on the strategic, technical feature-testing involved in developing the new platform – especially since these resources are often unavailable locally. Microsoft wanted an offshore team that could collaborate well with the larger virtual development team, as well as have people on site in Redmond to help manage the project. Additionally, Microsoft required a team with engineering expertise in the mobility space, as well as the ability to produce high-quality results from automation testing of Windows Mobile 7 features.

Solution
In January 2008, Microsoft turned to iSoftStone for its deep history, knowledge, and success working with Microsoft and developing on the Windows Mobile platform, including Outlook for WM7.  Out of its secure, Microsoft IT-approved facility in Beijing, China, iSoftStone was able to scale quickly and built a highly-skilled team of five software development and test engineers to begin automation testing for the WM7 platform.  The iSoftStone team developed a customized mobile automation testing framework, to serve as the foundation for all 500 software test cases of a specific set of WM7 features (including Messaging, Contacts, Photos, and Calendars).
