Reducing Operations Costs for Bank of China
iSoftStone performed maintenance and technical support in the mainframe production system of the Bank of China (BOC) credit card center, providing high-quality service with IBM technical staff.
Situation
Bank of China (BOC) is a state-owned commercial banks that focuses on commercial and investment banking, and insurance. In terms of tier one capital, it ranked 10th among the world’s top 1,000 banks according to The Banker (2008).
When BOC centralized data, its credit card center had to process and manage the vast amount of China’s user data. BOC needed an efficient, experienced team to lead the credit card center operations.
Solution
As an IBM partner in this project, iSoftStone took over maintenance and technical support services in the mainframe production system of the BOC credit card center. iSoftStone assigned experienced technical staff, together with IBM project managers and technical personnel, to provide services such as mainframes, open platform systems, networks, databases (DB2/390), and middleware (MQ, CICS, etc.) in Beijing and Shanghai, as well as in three other data centers. iSoftStone’s services included:
- Data Center Operational Support Services: Relying on IBM AIX, Tivoli, and other specialized software products, iSoftStone provided customers with around-the-clock services in the multi-operating system environment that includes AIX, Unix, Linux, Z/OS, and Windows. Our services helped cut BOC’s operational costs, while enhancing the operational efficiency and increasing flexibility of its business.
- Server Management Services: iSoftStone leveraged existing resources to enhance storage resource integration, data distribution, backup, and recovery capabilities. The service assisted in the implementation and application of databases to achieve greater IT efficiency.
- Middleware Services: Engineers used middleware products, such as the IBM Websphere Application Server, Websphere Portal, and Websphere MQ to provide specialized technical services.
- Data and Storage Services: iSoftStone provided service to aid in data storage and query functions, as well as memory restoration and enhanced efficiency. The service allows IT resources to be easily distributed and allocated.
