Mass-Market Postcard Production for Beijing Post
With a diversely skilled team and an efficient work process, iSoftStone developed thousands of souvenir postcards for the Good Luck China Athletics Open and Beijing 2008 Olympic Games in a very quick turnaround time.
Challenge
Beijing Post is a China Post Bureau-owned subsidiary, which focuses predominantly on domestic and international mail delivery and distribution services, but is also the largest newspaper distribution center in the country. In the spring of 2008, Beijing Post faced the task of producing and printing 80,000 souvenir postcards to sell at the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games and the Good Luck Beijing China Athletics Open, a preliminary competition held May 22-25, 2008. With only two months before the start of the events, Beijing Post needed creative, branded design and printing services to generate the postcards.
Solution
To complete the project in such a limited timeframe, and to the highest standards, Beijing Post outsourced the postcard production business to iSoftStone. With team expertise in printing, design, multi-media development, and software development, the iSoftStone BPO service center was able to provide greater technical support than a standard printing company to produce high-quality souvenir postcards. The iSoftStone team also managed the logistics of transporting the printed postcards by postal vehicle daily to the sporting-event venues.
Benefits
Beijing Post efficiently accomplished the postcard printing service for the 2008 Beijing Athletics Open and Olympics, within the allotted project time, through iSoftStone’s dedication to working around the clock until the task was complete. By adding the option to order custom, personalized postcards, iSoftStone boosted consumers’ interest in purchasing the souvenirs. As postcard sales increased, postage stamp sales in Beijing also improved. By building a B2C platform, iSoftStone helped Beijing Post further develop their postcard distribution business and promote it to a mass market.
