IT Consulting and Development for China Everbright Bank

iSoftStone provided IT consulting, project management, and application development and maintenance services that helped China Everbright Bank reduce costs while keeping pace with industry advancements in banking technology.

Situation
China Everbright Bank (CEB) is headquartered in Beijing and has a presence in 45 major cities across 23 provinces, municipalities and autonomous regions.  CEB provides financial services to retail and corporate clients, and has experienced the most success among its corporate, treasury, investment banking, wealth management and mortgage businesses. By the end of 2008, CEB’s total assets reached 843 billion RMB.

In 2007, CEB needed to develop and upgrade its banking system and related technology. With the introduction of 24-hour banking services, quick responses to information technology problems and internal requests for assistance became critical to its business and clients. CEB created an internal team to work on improving its business system but faced resource challenges, such as the limited technical expertise of its personnel.

Cost and efficiency concerns prevented CEB from maintaining an IT team large enough and with enough experience to handle such services. To address the increasing demands for efficient technology solutions and to further expansion, China Everbright Bank turned to iSoftStone.

Solution
The iSoftStone project team became CEB’s dedicated IT service vendor, supporting its long-term business growth by providing more efficient, higher quality, and cost-effective services. iSoftStone completed more than 20 projects for CEB that used IT consulting and application development services.  Some of these projects  included work on:

  • A technology platform to standardize CEB counter and internet operations, and other business processes.
  • An Internet banking (retail and corporate clients): iSoftStone wrote code for the system development, took responsibility for data maintenance and storage, and managed other branch banks’ specific problems, as well as those reported through a troubleshooting hotline.
  • A risk management system
  • A direct payment system for corporations
  • An upgrade of specific functions of the online funding services (in order to make mobile banking more user-friendly for clients).
