Our client, a provider of hosted applications, needed a cost-effective hosted instant messaging (IM) solution for small- to mid-size enterprises. This called for enterprise-oriented features such as provisioning, archiving, monitoring, and branding which are not readily available in mainstream IM applications.

iSoftStone provided complete development of the IM program and infrastructure, as well as ongoing maintenance. Within four months, the 20-person team delivered the initial release with all required functionality. And the flexible plug-in based architecture allowed easy addition of features in the month that followed. The application runs securely on a large-scale, high-availability, high-performance server with a Windows-based client. The included Java applet enables easy client and server upgrades.

The customer is very happy with this solution, which serves nearly 1 million users with about 20 percent active at peak hours.
