Offshore Development Centres
One of iSoftStone’s primary service offerings is ODC (Offshore Development Centers). An ODC is a combination of a team dedicated to the customer and a facility that hosts the team. ODCs are easy to manage and scale, and it provides many advantages:
- Higher return on investment from both client and supplier. The costs associated with offshore outsourcing is the highest in the beginning stage because the supplier must learn about client’s systems, processes, and get its own team members trained, environment configured and infrastructure setup. Such investment will be recouped as the vendor team becomes more productive and the operation implemented on a larger scale.
- Higher productivity. The dedicated team will accumulate knowledge of a customer's domain over time, which can be fully leveraged after the initial stage of ODC
- Better protection of client’s intellectual property. ODC team members are more stable and accountability can be better established and managed
- More flexibility. An ODC can be setup and managed in a number of different ways. One of the most popular models is BOT (build, operate and transfer). BOT provides low cost entry, faster reaching productiveness and options to change the ownership.
iSoftStone has packaged its ODC offerings into three classes based on facility and security features: shared facility ODC, dedicated facility ODC, and secured facility ODC. We also support BOT business model, which has been gaining popularity among our clients.
Another form of ODC is GDC (global development center). A GDC has almost all the features and/or requirements of an ODC; the difference is that a GDC may well be part of a client’s global delivery network. The client may have established the same standards across GDC.
